5 Stately, must visit homes in the UK

Aside from Castles, when needing to fill a couple of days off, or the occasional Saturday, I love to look around stately homes and grounds!

There’s just something about them. The grandeur and history all rolled into one property as well as stunning grounds, gardens and sometimes woodland to explore, makes it a perfect day out. Even in the height of Autumn, stately homes can offer soo much, including a warm coffee and afternoon tea to warm those toes if needed!

Luckily, here in the UK we have plenty of stately homes to visit, and well, here are just 5 that seem totally worth a wander!!

This is top of many lists since the grounds, park and house are truly stunning! Located in central England, nestled in the heart of the Peak District in Derbyshire, the house offers 30 rooms to explore, a stunning art collection and over 100 acres of garden! Not forgetting it offers a farmyard and playground, perfect entertainment for younger visitors.

What attracts me most to Chatsworth is not only the stunning architecture of the property, but how stunning the surrounding landscape is around the property. Top of my list of stately homes to visit for sure!!

Blenheim Palace

If there is a property worth of the palace title, it’s certainly this one!! With once again stunning grounds of over 2000 acres, including the ‘great lake’. Aside from the breathtaking grounds and landscape, the picture perfect, utterly British stately home offers a rich heritage to explore in the many stately rooms! You may even recognise the architecture since its been centre stage in many Hollywood productions, including James Bond and Harry Potter!

What appeals me the most for Blenheim palace is the surrounding area known as the Cotswolds. Sitting on the edge of the picturesque town Woodstock, and being only 20 minutes from Oxford, it’s the perfect location for a quick weekend away in a gorgeous part of the UK!

Castle Howard

Despite it’s name, Castle Howard is another gem in our stately homes list that offers extensive woodland walks, temples, lakes & fountains! Of course not forgetting the stately home which offers once again a rich heritage, and plenty of rooms to wander, learn and explore.

I love the look of the gorgeous gardens, and bridges across the stunning expansive lakes! Nestled in the heartland of Yorkshire, its a gorgeous part of countryside to stumble across a expansive stately home!

Hatfield House

I had never even heard of this one until this very post. However, I am absolutely stunned on what it has to offer in property and gardens. The extensive estate is located just outside London and offers so much history as well as gorgeous stately rooms, galleries and a chapel to venture throughout.

What I adore about this property, is the amount it has to offer. Unfortunately this one isn’t open all year round, so I plan to visit some time in the summer of 2018.

Highclere Castle

Despite the name, you will probably know this property as the grand stately home of Downton Abbey. I simply couldn’t do a stately home post with out this gorgeous English Home. despite being named a castle. I couldn’t imagine a more stately home to explore, including the drawing room and saloon!

Of course, much like the others, the property is surrounded with gorgeous gardens and woodland, offering endless trails to explore.

Whether you are looking for somewhere new to experience this autumn, or already planning next years weekends away, be sure to have a look at what these gorgeous stately homes have to offer in history, culture and beauty.
