Travel Throwback | San Francisco

Travel Throwback | San Francisco

I LOVE San Francisco. As a city, as a destination, as a place to explore and learn some dark history. I LOVE it!!

There aren’t many places in the world that I feel that passionate about. San Fran is 3rd in line to my favourite cities in the world, and that’s behind the infamous Paris and New York, so that’s saying something!!

It’s been a good couple of years since I have been, but it left such an impression on me, it’s etched in my memory!

I am soo desperate to go back with my fiancée, but with wedding plans and honeymoon destinations picked, 2019 looks the possibility.

So for now, it’s reminiscing and reliving the already been experiences. But that’s good enough for now.

Here’s what I got up to before, and what I plan to do on my next visit!!

No visit is complete without a trip to the infamous Alcatraz. And whether you know anything or nothing about the place, it is well worth a visit!!

So much can be learnt from the historic prison, and the sheer fact it’s offshore on it’s own little ‘rock’ makes it even more interesting. Learn of the historic incidents and escapes by inmates and how the prison got it’s famous name!

Be sure to take the guided tour to take full advantage of everything it has to offer in storied and history!!

Pier 39

There is lots to do down on Pier 39 including some gorgeous restaurants, shops and street entertainment. Of course you cannot miss the sea lions basking in the sun!! Whilst we were down there, we went to the aquarium. Perfectly placed in the heart of the area, it’s a great attraction for families and those alike. It was also really nice to get out of the sunshine when possible!

Golden Gate Bridge

You cannot miss the bridge, whatever corner of the city you are in. Of course, it pays to give it a visit and wander across. The sheer size of the bridge offers it’s own spectacle, so it’s well worth it up close and personally. Walk on over and experience the city from the other side, it’s worth the view!!

On top of the above, be sure to check hotspots like Lambert Street and jump on a cable car!!

What I would do next time
There isn’t anything I would miss in San Francisco, even on my second visit. I would like to spend a couple more days there just to soak up the city and explore a little further afield. I would also love to see the Golden State Warriors play. They’re the basketball team I have fallen in love with, and I would happily say I am a fan of. To see them play at home would be amazing.

Have you ever been to San Francisco?
