I feel it’s rather personal preference on many gift ideas and of course can differ from person to person.
The true value in a present isn’t the monetary value you put aside, but the thought and feeling behind it.
The best present I have ever received was a personalised Hogwarts acceptance letter, along with a Hogwarts express ticket and more. There was no monetary value to it, but with my love of Harry Potter and the personalisation, I was overwhelmed.
All in all, you don’t have to spend an absolute fortune to give your friends and family a good gift this Christmas.
Here’s a gift list for those difficult people or when you want to give something a little different.
Personalised Prints / Calendars |
Whether it be a quote print, illustrated picture or self portrait, personalised prints are great Christmas prezzies, and can be found rather inexpensively too!! The best place to shop for gifts like these would be Etsy. If you don’t fancy a print per-say, a personalised calendar could be a great alternative. Pack with pictures with friends and family, is a great sentimental present that’s rather inexpensive and will last the year!
Winter warmer hamper |
If you’re really struggling, a hamper of essential winter goodies is a great alternative. Packed with fluffy socks, body butters and face masks, biscuits, hot chocolate sachets and some good old mulled wine. If you want it to be a little more sentimental, include personalised mugs, glasses or champagne flutes. This is perfect for someone you feel has ‘everything’, and just needs a feel good pamper hamper.
Spa Treatment |
If you don’t fancy gifting a pamper hamper, gift a day to enjoy a treatment or two away from home. It’s a great gift for that one person who doesn’t give themselves enough downtime. With plenty of hotels offering spa treatments across the UK, they won’t have to travel too far to receive some A* relaxation.
Magazine subscription |
Magazines are a great escape for many, and a good way to keep up to date and on top of hobbies and celebrity news. Give a gift that lasts a year with a monthly subscription to a magazine. Whether it be Vogue, Fast Ford or otherwise, it’s a rather out of the box idea.
Theatre Tickets |
A good show is always a great time, and you don’t have to venture too far from home to see one. Many of the top West End shows tour throughout the year across the UK. Purchasing tickets for Christmas can give someone something to look forward to in the New Year, and possibly enjoy something they never considered themselves!
Subscription Box |
It really is a Christmas gift that just keeps on giving month by month. Subscription boxes come in all variations to suit every need. Choose from Beauty, Wine, Gin, cheese or even books. For beauty lovers, I could not recommend the Cohorted box enough, you can find my review here.
Don’t worry about paying for a whole 12 months, many subscription boxes allow you to pay for a one off!! Tickets to the local football stadium tour |
If you have a sport lover who has every game and equipment needed, maybe some tickets to the local football / rugby stadium tour is a great gift to give this Christmas. A once in a lifetime experience any sport love will enjoy and look forward to.
Date Night Vouchers – Cinema Gift Card |
This is a perfect couple gift. Fairly inexpensive but worth a lot in time and experience for whoever receives it. Give them a date night on you with a trip to the cinema. If your feeling extra generous, pop in a restaurant voucher too for either before or after the movie!
Attraction Tickets |
We usually are a culture of materialistic things and sometimes just sometimes, it would be nice to get out of the house and enjoy something different. Nab some tickets to some top UK attractions your gift receiver can use through the year. Whether it be for Thorpe Park, Maddame Tussauds or otherwise, it will be a great prezzie to give to someone who doesn’t get much time to enjoy themselves.
Track Days |
Have a petrol head or speed freak that likes to get their kicks in a car. Or someone who has always drooled over the latest Ferrari. Give them a opportunity to get behind the wheel of some wild cars for one day only. Track days operate once again across the country and will be the once in a lifetime for your gift receiver to put their foot down and enjoy the roar of a gorgeous car! Pull together other family members to cover the cost if it’s a little out of budget!
We all have those family and friends members who answer ‘I dunno’ when asked what they would like for Christmas. Blow them away with some pretty thoughtful and out of the box ideas that could turn out to be a once in a lifetime opportunity. Best of all, most of these can be bought last minute, so no worries if it will arrive in time!
