Top Five tips when redecorating your bedroom

If you are redecorating a bedroom, there are many ways to go about doing so. It was only the other month me and my fiancee decided to take the plunge and decorate our first room, that being our bedroom!

You can choose to add new furniture, or you can choose to paint. You can build items, or you can have the kids do some artwork for the room. No matter what you want to do in the room, there are simple tips which can help you redecorate.

These are 5-tips every homeowner should consider when redecorating any bedroom.

Keep it subtle |

This pertains to painting the room.

If you are going to paint, go with subtle colours. Don’t go with overly bright or vibrant. It is something you will get tired of and will get dated quickly. Something subtle will go well with all furniture, will look good, and it is going to remain classic, regardless of how long until you paint the room again.

Look up |

Not many of us look at the ceiling when redecorating. Make sure you do! You want to add lighting fixtures, consider a ceiling fan, and other small details. Paint borders, and do other small touchup work.

It will make a great difference, and it is highly noticeable if you don’t pay attention to the minute details.

Size matters |

Don’t go with a king-sized bed if the bedroom is meant for a twin-bed. This goes for all furniture. Make sure you consider room size, and the ability to move freely in the space. Buy furniture which is appropriate for the space, and won’t overcrowd it when everything is in the bedroom.

Store it |

Every bedroom needs storage space.

Wardrobes, bookshelves, nooks, under-bed storage, and more. Don’t simply clutter the room without considering where you will hang clothing and keep your shoes/accessories. You have to make sure you have enough space to store your belongings.

Luxury-linens |

If there is one place you shouldn’t skimp, it’s on the linens. You are going to sleep in your bed each night after all, and obviously you want to be comfortable. So, go with high-quality, soft, comfortable linens. They last longer, look better, and ensure a comfortable night’s sleep.

When it comes to redecorating a bedroom, there are many aspects you have to think about. These are a few simple tips you should keep in mind when you are redecorating, regardless of whether it is a child’s bedroom, or the master-suite of your home.

When we moved I really focused on the storage side. I bought one of those massive Ikea wardrobes to hide all our clothes and it makes the bedroom look great!

These are great tips! I always forget light fixtures, and they can change the whole feel of a room. I also recently redecorated my room and mostly went for subtle colours with a pop of colour. I think mixing basics with a few statement pieces always works well! Good luck with decorating the rest of your house x

Storage is so important, I love the little clever forms of storage like under the bed drawers because it saves so much space!

I think the good thing about going with subtle colours is that it is easy to add different pops of colours through items which you can change throughout the year.
