Removing the hidden dangers from your home

Removing the hidden dangers from your home

Did you know the home is the most common place for someone to have an accident? It’s mostly because we don’t think of the home as being dangerous, considering we live there everyday and have full reign to do what we like inside it. But there’s more hidden dangers than you might ever think, and there’s plenty of ways for you to get hurt if you don’t know about or pay attention to their effects.

So, you’re going to need to look after your home to minimise any damage that can come from it. Just like how your car is going to need to be kept healthy, the same rule applies to your house, and there’s more of a need for good maintenance here than anywhere else!

Get Rid of Mould

Mould is something we get everywhere: on clothes, on perishable foods, and in our houses. It’s one of the biggest nuisances out there, and almost every condition known to man allows it to thrive. Because of that, you need to be extra vigilant when it comes to combating it, and allowing your household to become a little bit safer as a result.

Mould doesn’t only come as a green or black splattering on the wall, ruining the entire look of a room, but it also has an accompanying odour that can completely overtake the atmosphere inside your house. And seeing as it only takes about a day for more to form, there’s a good chance your walls and ceiling could be completely taken over in a few weeks if you allow conditions to continue.

Check for Asbestos

Asbestos isn’t something you’d see in newer or very old houses these days, but if you live in a building designed and erected during the 60s and 70s, there’s a good chance you’ve got an unsafe form of it in your roof and ceiling. And that’s not healthy in any way, especially if something collapses, gets water damaged, or gets a hole in it.

Thankfully, there’s entire companies out there dedicated to getting rid of this unsafe compound. Just look into asbestos roof repair when you’re on-line and you’ll find plenty of solutions. Make sure you know the signs of exposure to it too, to make sure no one in your family is currently at risk of it.

Make Furniture More Stable

How many times have you seen an advert about accident lawyers and seen someone fall off of a ladder? It’s something that happens a lot more than we think, especially inside of a home; you put up a step ladder to repaint a wall, and suddenly it collapses underneath you. Now you’re on the floor with no one to blame but yourself, probably! So make sure every other item of furniture in your house is in a stable place, and has no chance of collapsing onto someone.
