Dark Podcasts to listen to. Especially if you love Mindhunter!

It’s only recently, after my distaste to radio, that I have slipped back into listening podcasts once again. And whilst I do like to subscribe to the inspirational and informative, I do also love to invest in real crime. There seems to be lots of us that love the likes of Mindhunter and Ted Bundy Confessions tapes – uncovering the story behind some of the most prolific serial killers in modern history.

During my commute to and from work, and my annoyance at hearing the same 6 pop songs on repeat via the radio, I have taken to podcasts to keep me entertained. And honestly, it’s my fav part of the day – I’m hooked!

With so many free shows to listen too, as well as a backdate of previous episodes, Podcasts are becoming a very popular way to catch up on hobbies, news and popular culture topics – including true crime!

And after falling back in the worm hole of Podcasts, I thought I’d share the best from across the web, to listen too, especially if you like the Netflix series, Mindhunter.

This by far is my favorite true crime, murder mystery podcast, uncovering popular serial killers, as well as those incidents you may have never heard of before. It’s really in-depth and straight to the point. There’s no thrills here, just the true, fact riddled story of some of the most horrifying murders ever.

Cold Case files

This **used** to be my fav, but unfortunately it’s no longer available on Apple podcasts and so not one that I listen to often. Having said that, this was one of the first favs in my podcast app for once again it’s real, brutally honest and true look on cold case files.

Unsolved Murders : True Crime Series

This one is certainly a little different to the previous two as it features dramatization as well as narration from not one but two hosts. It feels much more like a ‘show’ than just a script of a story. I find this one really immersive, so if you do need more thrills, sound effects and detail, this one might just be for you.

As the name suggests, this podcast focuses on just unsolved murders from across the world.

Serial Killers

Serial Killers podcast offers more of a physiological aspect on true-crime. Delving into the person behind serial murders, this is pretty different from most of the other true-crime serial killer podcasts out there. I’ve listened to a fair few episodes and when wanting to know more scientific knowledge when it comes to true crime.

Sword and Scale

This is a new edition in my podcast library and yet it’s one I’ve grown fond of pretty quickly. Sword and Scale has a fresh take, and modern look on telling true crime stories. It’s immersive and offers a real experience when covering dark stories. Unlike my fav Casefile, it includes real audio where possible and looks into modern casefiles as well as historic ones too. The host has been a little controversial, but overall, I enjoy his personal aspect when it comes to discussing crime. Tip : Go from the first ever episode.

I have really fallen back in love with podcasts. As someone who dislikes doing nothing, even when doing something ( like commuting ), podcasts fill the void. Having such podcasts that intrigue and inform me is even better! Mindhunter is one of my fav Netflix shows so to find podcasts that touch on that topic has transformed my podcast library.

Dear Diary – I started a Podcast

Hi Hello and welcome to the second installment of 2019. I of course mean, welcome to the much anticipated, longingly awaited February. Shamefully this is only my second dear diary post and we are nearing March! oops. It’s been a long one right?
I still find it hard to believe we are edging towards Spring and yet excited to ditch the jumpers and embrace shorter sleeves!

Enough about the weather, in true brit form, I’m here to chat podcasts. My podcast!

Yes, encase you’re not part of my exclusive newsletter blog blast club, or haven’t been involved in some of my other posts, I have my very own podcast.

Millennial Conversations

I challenge some of the perspectives and embrace true millennial views towards life. Essentially, I’m chatting most of the stuff that can be found on my blog in a really informal way and without spell check.

Millennial conversations is everything I want to chat with being a current young being. I cover everything from dieting to mental health, to buying your own property. I tend to have some really in depth conversations with lots of my friends about some of our struggles and often wonder how this would come across in a podcast and whether we are alone in some of our views.

We are not, and whilst my current episodes have no one else but me present, I do have some guests up and coming who share or contradict my view.

So, if you like my blog ( which I hope you do ) then be sure to check in, listen and cast your view over on my podcast. I really want to get some conversations going, and use the space as a talking point.

Fancy being involved?

Want to chat with me? Have a convo you think should be shared across a podcast?

Drop me an email and let’s get recording.

I am on the look out for anyone who wants to guest appear and chat ANYTHING millennial, conversational or even blogger related.

You can find me on my Instagram stories chatting the topic every week, including some of your own answers and opinions on the topic.

And for godsake, listen and leave your comments below!

Podcasts : Why you need to listen to them – NOW

Alright, late to the party – granted. HOWEVER I have really, and I mean really, started to fall in love and see the real appeal of a good ‘ol podcast.

Journalism graduate here who LOVES being immersed into anything, especially audio, get’s a real kick out of conversation pieces which capture you. You know, speak to you without you even having to chat back! And cover topics that are relevant and recent and worth 40 minutes uninterrupted.

How did I get into them?

I was starting to get bored with the radio if I’m honest. Sorry, Greg James, you’re great and all but I was fed-up of hearing Calvin Harris and Sam Smith being over-played ( I HATE that song! ) I had heard natter in regards to podcasts and I was a little naïve to think they were just complinations of radio shows best bits in the week. And then I was guided to some podcasts that I now listen to back to back on the way to and from work.

It actually makes the journey so much better. I even want to be stuck in traffic so I can listen to more!

What tickles my Podcast fancy?

I am pretty diverse actually. I just want something that A) I can relate to B) laugh at or C) take something informative and knowledgeable from! Being a blogger, I do listen to a lot of inspirational and motivational podcasts. I like to get some advice through podcasts on how to expand, adapt and grow as a blogger huge part in some of the podcasts and episodes I listen to.

Sell them to me, I’m not sure….

The BEST bit about podcasts is, that there is literally one for everyone. Chances are there will be more than one! Actually, I know so. There’s a podcast for every mood and every time of the day. Whether you’re struggling to sleep, want more info on mindfulness, or need some guidance in being a creative, there is literally a handful of podcasts to tune in and listen to.

There are of course other pro’s to podcasts too!

Like, THEY’RE FREE! iphones come with the podcast app! You don’t have to have an apple account and they download to your phone! Subscribing to Podcasts means you get every new episode sent to your device straight away!

There are of course plenty of apps that can offer your podcasts too, like Soundcloud and acast, both of which can be used on android and apple products.

Oooo another thing, they can be listened to at any opportunity. Some stick them on before bed, or when doing the housework, or on the commute ( like me ) or when they’re working on a blog post say.

So Charlotte, tell us the podcasts you’ve been enjoying then!

Alright, I have quiet a few, so listen up.
